The retreat will be held at Pondok Saraswati: In the village of Silungan, in the district of Lod Tundah, near Ubud, one hours drive north of the Denpasar.

Pondok means ‘little house on the rice padi field’, while Saraswati is the Hindu Goddess of Wisdom and Learning; described as ‘the river of consciousness’ whose rays dispel the darkness of ignorance.  'To acknowledge her is to seek to go beyond the pleasures of the senses and rejoice in the serenity of spirit. 'The spiritual energy within the compound at Pondok Saraswati in strong.

Pondok Sariswati is not a hotel and is not air conditioned, although fans keep the bedrooms and living areas comfortably cool.  It is a cluster of four, two-story thatched-roof bungalows surrounded by tropical gardens set within a village compound, surrounded on two sides by Balinese families.  To the rear, and visible from upstairs balconies, stretch rice padi fields, teaming with birds and Balinese farmers going about their daily work.  Other sounds and sights of Balinese village life are evident without leaving the compound.

Accommodation is Bed & Breakfast and consists of two bungalows set up for singles, couples or twin share and consisting of an upstairs bedroom and large balcony, with a bathroom and spacious open living room downstairs. The other two bungalows are set up to accommodate two or three people (couple or twin share). Altogether, Pondok sleeps 10 guests. During this retreat, if fully booked, all accommodation is twin share.

Bathrooms are western style with hot water showers. They are partially open (roof) to the garden as is the Balinese tradition  and enclosed by a wall to maintain privacy. All the living spaces invite relaxation with complimentary all-day tea and coffee, each with its own supply of safe drinking water, electric kettle, cups etc.’ There are books to read, musical instruments and games.  For those who simply want to relax, the daybeds are fantastic!
